Rick Gershon is a 4 time Emmy nominated, award-winning director, cinematographer and photojournalist with over 20 years of experience in visual story telling. 

He has worked extensively across 6 continents and has made films and images for the world’s most prestigious editorial, entertainment and socially conscience organizations. 

As a director, cinematographer and photographer his work in short form content, feature length documentaries, episodic series and photographic reportage is marked by intimate, cinematic storytelling that aims to inspire audiences to action while leaving powerful impressions. 

On the commercial side of things Rick currently serves as Executive Producer, Creative Director of Content at 4mf.co, a boutique creative agency and production company aimed at connecting brands and customers through powerful, beautiful visual stories, imagery and creative campaigns. 

He previously served as the Director of Photography at MediaStorm, an innovative multimedia production studio, where he shot, directed and edited documentary films to give voice and meaning to social issues around the globe. Prior to that he served as a multimedia photojournalist and staff photographer at Getty Images. 

Rick started his career as a staff photographer at the Dallas Morning News where he was one of the first still photographers to take on learning the craft of video journalism and was also named one of the “Top 25 Up and Coming Photographers in America” by the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.

His work has been honored with 2 Emmy nominations for New Approaches to Documentary Storytelling and 2 for Outstanding Cinematography, 2 Webby Awards for Individual Documentary Episode, the World Press Photo award for Long Feature and numerous awards from the National Press Photographer’s Association and Pictures of the Year International. He was included in an Edward R. Murrow award for electronic journalism while at MediaStorm; and the Dallas Morning News staff that won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

Rick holds a B.A. in photojournalism from the University of North Texas, where shortly after graduating in 2004 he was recognized as the College Photographer of the Year, an international, highly competitive competition held by Pictures of the Year International and received an Award of Excellence as Newspaper Photographer of the Year during the same year in the POYi competition.

His diverse clients include the The New York Times, TIME Magazine, The New Yorker, CNN, PBS Frontline, The Wall Street Journal, Discovery Channel, History Channel, A&E Networks, The Travel Channel, The Food Network, Starbucks, Nike, Mines Advisory Group, UN Foundation, AARP, MSNBC and ESPN, among many others.
